Blake Lively Just Wore Her Most Gossip Girl–Inspired Outfit in NYC
It’s been 11 years since Gossip Girl first aired on The CW, and let’s face it – not every Upper East Side trend has stood the test of time. Blair Waldorf’s overly preppy headbands and structured tweed sets? They’d likely feel dated in 2018 (though I’ll admit I’ve fantasized about a 2018 update of her closet). And off-screen, none of the cast members have exactly kept the UES uniform alive – those platform heels, statement hair accessories, and plaid skirts remain firmly etched in our TV memories.
Until Blake Lively stepped out in NYC this week.
The actress, whose personal style usually leans bohemian and laid-back, surprised us all with an outfit that channels her iconic character, Serena van der Woodsen. A colorful plaid suit, a shirt buttoned right up to the collar, and a menswear-inspired tie – it was a modern, fashion-forward nod to the Constance Billard school uniforms we all remember, the ones famously worn while perched on the Met steps. And yes, we did some digging. Side by side with her on-set look from 2008, the resemblance is uncanny – but with a 2018 polish that feels fresh, not costumey.

Her colored plaid suit, button-down shirt, and tie have an uncanny resemblance to the school uniforms she wore for Gossip Girl.
